Southern Illinois University Carbondale Video Remote Interpreting

Southern Illinois Carbondale now provides sign language interpreters via video conferencing to colleges and universities throughout the United States. Sign language interpreters are in high demand, and can be difficult to find in some areas of the country. Through the use of ICN’s network, Disability Support Services collaborates with Video Conferencing Services at SIUC to provide this unique service to other institutions where there are interpreter shortages. For more information, please visit our website at http://www.siu.edu/~dss/FFS_VRI.htm or contact Lisa Caringer at 618-453-4608.

Central Illinois School District Exemplifies “Smart Business”

Warrensburg-Latham Community Unit School District #11, serving more than 1100 students in Central Illinois, was named the Grand Prize winner in the public category of the 2007 Cisco Growing with Technology Awards for its innovative use of networking technology.  The emphasis of the award was on organizations that were “working smarter” through the use of technology.  Warrensburg-Latham is using its fiber optic loop and Illinois Century Network connection to the Internet to enhance student learning, improve operational efficiency, increase parental involvement and improve security and safety on campus.  For more information, please visit the Warrensburg-Latham CUSD #11 website at http://www.wl.k12.il.us.

Brookfield Zoo
