Point-to-Point Dialing Instructions |
||||
|
ICN Point-to-point dialing: The ICN Video network is designed to allow endpoints to dial a 10-digit telephone number and connect with any member of the network regardless of whether the destination is an IP or an ISDN/H.320 (at 384 kbps transmission speeds) endpoint. This applies to off-net ISDN/H.320 destinations (at 384 kbps transmission speeds) as well. All ICN registered IP endpoints are assigned a 10-digit DID telephone number from our number range (312-338-9xxx) and the gatekeeper is configured to route calls over the appropriate facilities without the need for special dialing prefixes (service prefixes).
Point-to-point calls to IP endpoints registered with other gatekeepers (H.323 zones): IP endpoints typically register with a gatekeeper (an H.323 zone) for reasons of control and feature access. Gatekeepers can be neighbored to allow inter-zone calling. If you are calling an endpoint that is neighbored with the ICN you may need to dial the zone prefix and then the E.164 alias or IP address of the endpoint. Check with ICN tech support staff for current neighboring information. Point-to-point calls to IP endpoints not under gatekeeper control: You may need to call or be called by IP endpoints not registered with
a gatekeeper. This can be accomplished by dialing the IP address of the
endpoint. ViDe Net: The ICN gatekeeper is neighbored with the ViDe Net to allow users to call and be called by ViDe member sites. Your ICN registered endpoints have an E.164 alias that conforms to the global ViDe dial plan of 00 (International Code)-country code -NPA-NXX-nnnn (0013123389xxx in the case of the ICN). You can place calls to ViDe sites by dialing the E.164 alias listed in the ViDe directory. ISDN/H.320 calls at 786 kbps transmission speed: To continue support for IVEN (Illinois Video Education Network) ISDN/H.320 calls at 768 kbps transmission speeds ICN has established a gateway service prefix of 1117. An IP endpoint wishing to reach an ISDN/H.320 endpoint at 768 kbps would dial 1117 and the 10-digit telephone number. Directory Information:
