The ICN IP (H.323) Video service includes the use of an H.323 to H.320 (ISDN) Gateway. A gateway performs the protocol conversion required to allow IP Video systems to conference successfully with ISDN based systems. The E.164 alias (10-digit telephone number) assigned to your IP video system as part of the application process allows ISDN based systems to call you via the ICN gateway. The ICN gateway provides connectivity to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) via two ISDN PRIs. These PRIs support video "calls" to and from the PSTN and ICN IP Video systems. ISDN calls utilize multiple 64 kbps channels to form calls; with six channels or 384 kbps being the most typical configuration. The gateway facilitates the formation of the multi-channel ISDN call and makes the connection to the IP video system. Outbound PSTN calls will be billed to the originator at the rates shown below. There is no charge for inbound calls.
The gateway also supports calls at 768 Kbps transmission speeds. The Gateway and Illinois Video Education Network (IVEN) Sites The ICN operates an ISDN video switch referred to as the SuperSwitch. The SuperSwitch connects many of the IVEN regional hubs throughout the State. The ICN Gateway is connected to the SuperSwitch and supports IP to ISDN calls to and from ICN and IVEN video systems at no cost to the caller ("on-net" calls). Check with the destination or with ICN tech support to determine if the site is "on-net". Dialing Instructions
